That may be because he is constantly producing new music and touring as an ambassador for all good things in the lo-fi, garage scene. Emotional Mugger is the newest project from the prolific west coast rocker. Within the same month of his sold out show with Fuzz, at the Grey Eagle this past November, Ty dropped a a grainy VHS tape to Pitchfork, and subsequently set up a DIY aesthetic website and “Emotional Mugger Hotline 1-800-281-2968 (Call this number; it is great//weird).  Ty’s band for this project ,“The Muggers”, consist of regular bandmate Mikal Cronin on bass and sax , alongside Kyle Thomas (King Tuff), Emmett Kelly (who plays with Bonnie Prince Billy and Angel Olsen), Wand’s Cory Hanson and Evan Burrows   What is Emotional Mugging?  Vibe here.   Contrary to your personal aversion or attraction to “creepy baby theme," Emotional Mugger is a progression in style from previous works,
A delirious, deranged and downright sketchy trip through the glass darkly of LA’s glittery facade, Emotional Mugger, the first new Ty Segall album since summer 2014, tumbles with bite-size bangers in between funk ‘n’ smut jams.
