Aydan Arroyo hugging his proud dad
My posts have been and usually are art related but this post is a special one to me and not related to art at all.
Last weekend my son
Aydan Arroyo won second place in the
North Carolina High School State Wrestling Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina in the 3A 126 lb. weight class representing the
North Buncombe High School BlackHawks. He also won the 3A Western Regional Championship the weekend before to qualify him to go to the state tournament.
He is the only wrestler in North Buncombe High School history to win the 3A Regional Tournament and make it to the finals in the State Championship as a sophomore. His teammate junior
Peter Simonovich won fourth place in the 182 lb. weight class at the State Championship and also won first place in the Western Regional Tournament.
Other BlackHawk wrestlers to make it to the State Championship were
Michail Simonovich (the 2014 220 lb. state champion pictured above) who won first place at Regionals, senior
Taylor Rozinski who got second place at Regionals and
Dylan Courtney who won third place at Regionals.
The Citizen Times has some great pics of the Western Regionals with some of the boys in them which you can check out
here.
The BlackHawks also won the
Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament a few weeks ago as a team where Aydan, Michail, Peter and
Logan Anderson won their respective weight classes as well.
I can't express how Super Amadeus proud I am of my son and the NBHS Black Hawk Wrestling Team for having an amazing 2014-15 wrestling season.
Congrats boys!!
Thanx to
Steven Brown for the wonderful pics of all the boys this weekend!!!!
