Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico, and the grim news reports coming in indicate that it may be quite a long time before anything is even close to normal again. The U.S. territory currently faces a daunting road ahead, and there is a lot of rebuilding to do. Currently, people in Puerto Rico lack many basics for survival. Many Asheville businesses and individuals are stepping in to offer support, so we've compiled a round-up (that will be updated) to give you information on where to go, and what to do, to help relief efforts.  On Friday, 10/6, Ingles and local musician Joe Lasher Jr. team up for a hurricane relief concert from 6-7 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Asheville. Proceeds go to benefit victims of recent hurricanes in Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico. Highland Brewing is donating $1 per beer from sales of their Gaelic Ale to Puerto Rico relief efforts. BimBeriBon hosts a benefit for Puerto Rico relief on Friday, 10/13 from 9:30 pm to 2 am featuring Boulder-based "tropical funksoul" producer Terrasonic and special guest Nugget Box. Late-night bao bun menu and full bar. Your $10 admission goes straight to relief efforts.  Puerto Rico with Love @ The Grey Eagle, Tuesday, 10/17 at 7 pm. 100% of ticket sales and a portion of bar and food sales will go to help PR. More details as the event planners pass them on.
