The next entry in Buxton Hall's Velvet & Lace series happens Thursday, 2/4 at 10 p.m. Celebrating the area's female bartenders, it's a night of fantastically creative cocktails, mystery, fire, tinctures, and magic organized by Buxton Hall's Kelly Vormelker and Sam Pennington. This month showcases the formidable talents of Shannon McGaughey of Bull & Beggar and Salt & Smoke. Since it's the season of love, February's event "will be all about dark romance, mad love, aphrodisiacs, old love potions and lots of herbs and smoke," according to the organizers. Yes, please. Inspired by Stevie Nicks, The Craft, and all things exotic and witchy, the evenin will also include darkly sexy music from DJ Night Nurse and a photo booth from Rose Hecht. Buxton Hall chef and pitmaster Elliott Moss will be cooking something amazing. 10% of sales will also go to Our VOICE. Velvet & Lace is happening through May on the first Thursday of every month. The party runs until 1 a.m., just past the witching hour.
