A collaborative blog with Ty Hallock, Dana Roberts, and Valerie Myers Asheville is having an evolutionary moment, thanks to our history of welcoming creative thought and action; our creative business community is growing and gaining newfound national and international attention. And with growth there can sometimes be growing pains, as seemingly impossible problems can result in people who may feel angry, frustrated, or stuck in their views—and see no way forward.  At the same time, Asheville is quickly becoming a national incubator for Dynamic Facilitation practitioners, with a large community of leading-edge authors and professionals living in and around Asheville. The Dynamic Facilitation process helps people face and achieve breakthrough progress, turning the energy of conflict into an asset, frustration into empowerment, and assuring that people will listen to one another with interest while developing a unity that is resonant in the whole community.  On Friday, June 19, 2015, Rosa Zubizarreta—a Dynamic Facilitation luminary and author of From Chaos to Creative Collaboration: A User’s Guide to Dynamic Facilitation —will be conducting an introductory workshop in Asheville at the Grove Arcade, “Creative Conversations Across Differences”, on using Dynamic Facilitation in business, non-profits and public participation projects. This daylong participatory workshop is available as either a full day session or individual morning or afternoon modules (please visit their web site for details, cost, and registration). The morning session will provide an overview and brief introduction to the process at work. The afternoon session will delve further into this leading-edge approach, its various elements, and applications to business and the community. This one day workshop is meant to provide a hands-on introduction and overview for both practitioners and organizations in Asheville that are interested in learning how Dynamic Facilitation can stimulate creative conversations across differences. In addition to the workshop, Rosa will be speaking at the Asheville Creative Facilitators Meetup on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, 5-7:00pm.  Rosa is a collaborative leadership coach and group learning facilitator, who has been working with Dynamic Facilitation since 2000 and loves to share this practice with others. She is in Asheville to work directly with several organizations, using Dynamic Facilitation modalities for their meetings.  Dana Roberts—an Asheville resident, executive management consultant, and facilitator—has led both large and small organizations in the government and private sector. When asked how he came to be part of the Asheville Dynamic Facilitators User Group, Dana says “I read Rosa’s book, met her, and knew I needed to go to her training on Dynamic Facilitation.” Dana adds “I wish that I had met her and learned about the power of Dynamic Facilitation from her 15 years ago. There’s no question that if I had, my businesses would have been even more productive and I would have been an even greater asset to my consulting clients. I’m already signed up for her workshop on June 19th.”
