Asheville Van Life Rally
photo by @steve_yocom From September 21-23rd, hundreds of vehicles and people will gather at the JuneBug Retro Resort for the 4th Annual Asheville Van Life Rally celebrating the freedom, fellowship, and culture of #vanlife. Founder, director, and Asheville native Micah Pulleyn initially conceptualized the rally to be an “open house” of super-fly adventure vehicles to compliment the 5Point Adventure Film Festival back in 2015. The response was so strong that it has at least doubled in participation and attendance outgrowing its previous venues each year since, becoming the largest gathering of its kind on the East Coast. This year participating #vanlifers get to enjoy a full weekend of camping, community, and camaraderie with entertainment, activities (for kid vanlifers too!), and plenty of story telling and revelry. On Saturday the 22nd from 12pm - 10pm #ashevillevanlife opens to the public so anyone who lives, knows, loves, and is curious about #vanlife can get up close and personal with the unique vehicles and folks behind them. photo by @steve_yocom And we aren't just talking about vans, old and new. Attendees will not only see but get to go inside renovated school buses, tricked out trucks, and a huge variety of DIY creations that all have the call of the wide open road in common. Past rallies saw vehicles with DJ and photo booths, incredible light and sound systems, handmade and often mind-blowing accessories, insanely cute pets, and some of the most interesting owners you might ever come across. Micah adds ::
The recent explosion of the #vanlife phenomenon is certainly exciting for us. With so many visitors coming in from outside of Asheville joining with our local van community, it’s a joy to meet new people and bring them together. There are no strangers when you’re at a van life rally. Everyone seems to connect at a more authentic level, no matter age, background, vehicle, or lifestyle.”
