Beer City Festival
With over 30 local breweries serving their best beers and an entire, beautiful spring afternoon to enjoy them, Beer City Festival this Saturday, May 28th on Roger McGuire Green is an event you don’t want to miss. If you’re a first timer, or you simply want to up your BCF game this year, we have some tips for maximizing your experience.
  1. Get your tickets early and arrive early. Tickets for Beer City Festival sell out every year, and you don’t want to get left behind. Getting to the festival site early will allow you to check out the festival layout and plan your tasting strategy.
  2. Pace yourself. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the amazing beers to try at the festival. (Did we mention that there will be 30+ breweries offering samples their best brews?) The good news is that you have from 1pm to 6pm to try every beer your heart desires. No need to rush it, and remember to drink responsibly.
  3. Know what to bring (and what not to bring). BCF provides the beer, and delicious, local food is available for purchase inside the festival. So all you really need to bring is your ticket, your ID, and a positive attitude. Even though this is a strictly 21+ event, the festival organizers understand if you have your small children in tow. Dogs, on the other hand, should stay home for this one.
  4. Travel smart. Ubering or taking a taxi to BCF is the way to go: no parking hassles and no irresponsible driving.
  5. Dress for success. Beer City Festival is a 5-hour, outdoor event. Dress comfortably, and remember your hats and sunscreen.
  6. Eat food and drink water. We know you love beer, but make sure to hydrate with plenty of water in between tastings. Food vendors will be set up inside the festival, and there are a ton of great restaurant options if you want to grab lunch downtown before you get to the festival. We love Barley’s Taproom and Over Easy Cafe.
  7. Get to know your local brewers. Whether you’re trying their beer for the first time or you’ve been loving their brews for years, this is your chance to talk about beer with people who have made it their life’s work.
  8. Branch out. Everyone has their favorite local beer, but the festival is the perfect opportunity to try something you’ve never tasted before. You might just find some new favorites.
