I had a great opportunity to visit Versona last week during their grand opening. Versona is a new women’s clothing and accessories shop on Tunnel Road located just next door to DSW and a few doors down from Whole Foods. I enjoy seeing this part of Tunnel Road continue to grow and change. First off, I have to tell you that I was pleasantly surprised with this store!  I was anticipating some high prices because, well, that’s just generally what I run into with specialty boutique-type clothing stores in Asheville. I was proven wrong because I found their prices to be reasonable. Most of the clothing items that caught my eye were roughly around the $30 range. I think the most expensive thing that I mentally wishlisted was around $59. I figured, ok, the prices are right but the material is going to be where the corners are cut. Again, I was surprised. The fabrics were sturdy. The sweaters were thick and the faux leather jacket could pass for the real deal. There were some misses, as to be expected, but there were some real hits too. Some things were just not my style and a bit too trendy. However, the store is a good size and there is plenty of variety to fit a lot of different tastes.  Versona also carries accessories like handbags, jewelry and shoes. They even carry shape wear (an off brand Spanx) which is something I never knew I needed out of a small scale store, until now! I wasn’t quite a fan of the shoes because I have temperamental feet and I don’t really buy cheap shoes anymore. I used to back in my twenties when I didn’t give a rip, but with age comes wisdom, right?. I passed on the shoes but did finally choose a handbag that was reversible AND came with a second bag inside for $39 before tax. I’m a bargain hunter above all else so three purses in one is a win-win for me.
