Here in Asheville, we love the nature that surrounds us and here at Asheville Grit, we want to call attention to those working to preserve that nature.
Wild for Life: Center for Rehabilitation of Wildlife is a local non-profit that provides compassionate, knowledgeable care for injured and/or orphaned wildlife. Their goal with each rescue is the eventual release of the animal back into the wild. In addition to saving these animals, Wild For Life aims to educate and excite the public with regard to wildlife, their habitats, conservation, and the need for protection and preservation of the world around us.
At Wild for Life, it is believed that each animal deserves the chance to complete their place in the circle of life and that after all humans take from the environment, we should give some back. Through their website, you can find out how to volunteer, donate, and information on what to do if you find a Bird of Prey and adult songbirds in need of help. From November 1st through December 31st, Wild for Life is participating in Give!Local through Mountain Xpress. In honor of the event, donations during this period are encouraged through the Give!Local site’s PayPal, though any check donations Wild for Life receives will count toward this program.
