For the month of September local artists Leah Baker and David Koll will be featured in the F.W. Gallery at Woolworth Walk.
Long before David first peered through the lens of a camera he fell in love with the natural world. As a boy he felt the wonderment of nature stir his soul. David continued to develop a profound relationship with the Earth. Suddenly his inner artist awoke. With the camera as his tool he came to see the world in a whole new way. As the awareness of the light around him began to develop so did the awareness of the light within. The instantaneous capture of a moment in time can become eternal when shared and experienced through the eyes of others. David would like to thank you for being a part of his process.
Lamp maker Leah Baker of Luminosa Lighting believes that by living in the gorgeous Blue Ridge mountains of Western North Carolina, she can find inspiration anywhere, all the time. An ever-changing rainbow of colors is a constant resource for the imagination. Designing a lamp is equal to creating a work of art to Leah, it just happens to be functional art. Which means they are double the pleasure! Her custom craft lamps serve to illuminate and deliver a striking visual statement. Crafting lamps allows her to combine her love of working with handmade paper, natural fibers, and elemental materials such as stone, clay, wood, twigs, and metal all of which bring a harmonious energy into the studio and then into each handmade lamp design. Contemporary. Rustic. Elegant. Whimsical. These are a few of the adjectives used to describe the personality of Luminosa's handmade lamps.
Come meet Leah and David and enjoy the opening reception on Friday, Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m.
